Richard “Rick” Lee Hamilton, 73, of Pittsburg, Kansas, passed away on, April 20, 2026, with his two daughters by his side with the loving staff at Delmar Gardens in Lenexa, Kansas.
Rick was born on March 9, 1953 to Clarence Donald and Norma June (Radford) Hamilton of Pittsburg, Kansas. After graduating from Pittsburg High School in 1971, he went on to attend Pittsburg State University for a year and played on the 1971 Gorillas football team.
After college, Rick proudly became a manager at Quik Trip. He went on to spend the majority of his working years as a manager for Pittsburg Cable TV. He concluded his working years at PITT Plastics.
In 2018, Richard retired from PITT Plastics. He spent the last 3 years of his life living close to his daughters and grandchildren. He lived in Northern Kentucky for 7 months and his last 2 ½ years in the Kansas City Metro area. He spent his time enjoying his grandkids sports and spending holidays with his kids.
Richard was proceeded in death by his parents, Clarence Donald and Norma June Hamilton; brother Clarence Donald “Donnie” Hamilton. Rick left behind two loving daughters whom he had with Teresa Wallen of Pittsburg KS; Kelli Phillips and husband William, their four daughters Inga (Jacob) Hanser, Abigail, Emilee and Lillian Phillips, and two great grandsons, Forrest and Jonah Hanser of Crittenden, KY; Kristyn Shultz and husband Jeremy, their two sons, Gavin and Beckham Shultz of Olathe, KS. He was survived by brother, Carl Hamilton and wife, Kathy Hamilton of Pittsburg, KS. Richard also lovingly had six stepchildren; Heathur Pliler, Robert White, Trey Farley, William Farley, Chad Fox, Henry Fox and several step-grandchildren with one on the way. He was also a loving uncle, who adored all his nieces and nephews.
Rick was well known for his spunky personality, his love for his kids and grandkids and ability to charm a room. He showed his toughness on the football field in his youth and shared that love with his grandsons. Rick loved all the holidays spent with his kids and grandkids. He was very fond of spending time outdoors, gardening and mowing. You could often find him outside getting fresh air, listening to wind chimes and petting his dog, Beau. Rick became known as “Grandpa Rick” and “Pepa” by his grandkids and great grandkids.
Friends and family are invited to come for a Visitation and Memorial Service at Bedene Funeral Home, 517 E. Washington, Arma, KS on June 13, 2026. The Visitation will start at 10:00am with the Memorial Service immediately following at 11:00am. The family welcomes all to follow the service with a graveside prayer and burial of cremains at the Rosebank Cemetery in Mulberry, KS, followed by gathering at Chicken Annies Original, 1143 E. 600th Ave, Pittsburg, KS to eat and share stories of Rick’s life.
